Secondary Flames Video

I thought I would post this for new stove operators of what secondaries look like.

This is a video of my stove with secondaries firing up top and little to no fire down below around the wood.

Looks like I have a gas burner in the top of my stove.

I think it was around 450 to 500 as I started shutting the air down early like at 350 to counter the fact I loaded on a bigger bed of coals and filled the stove up full and stacked it high in the front , which are all factors for getting the stove to hot. Later on the stove got up to like 710 stove top temp but it only lasted for a little while and it cooled back down to like 550 - 600.

Must have been him as I wasnt wearing a baseball cap.

With my stove if I have active secondaries and no flames on the wood after a while ill be burning dirty and the secondaries will eventually stop. In order to have good secondaries for the entire burn my logs have to active flames coming off them. My wood is 20% maybe thats not good enough. Late in the burn Ill have secondaries with no flames but the wood is cashed by then.

I am also finding out that I am best to leave my air open 1/4 the ways for best performance. I still get a good bed of coals in the morning for reload maybe a little smaller load but the house seems to be a little warmer in the mornings , so thats my sweet spot air setting for now.

Huntindog, I want to post my secondaries on your thread so you can look at them if its alright.

I tried to load the video but for whatever reason I could not. However in the pic you can see I have flames at bottom and top, this was with the air 1/4 open. I normally have flames on the wood throughout my burn unless i cut the air completely off.

You have to get a youtube account then upload your video to it then copy the youtube address of your video then put it im your post using the video insert feature

Nice pics of your secondaries you have less wood loaded that gives you a different look.

I have recently found out in my stove i get better secondary fire if i load east west.
