Selkirk DT venting. question?

I am looking to change out my venting over the summer and replace it with the Selkirk DT vent. I want to add an oak to my inset, My stove has a zero clearance box and extends into my garage so the vent pipe goes through the roof of my garage and I dont want to make another hole in the roof. I know the parts I need and how to do it. My question is on the cap. How is the exhaust and the outside air separated. I would think that if they were close to each other there would be a potential to draw in the exaust from the stove and draw it in with the fresh air during a high wind? I like the fact that the air would be heated before it enters the stove and would cut down on the draft in the house. thanks for your help

Smoke, I was wondering if the Selkirk had the potential to generate more creosote due to the cooling of the exhaust pipe.

I really only notice a little build up right on the termination cap, of my 26ish' vertical. I also have an up and out for my basement install with no evidence of creosote.

Thanks for the photo can the fresh air intake be raised higher ? I am sure it can but asking anyway. And is there any product to clean the fresh air inside the pipe? or only where the exhaust comes out? just a thought if something gets caught or builds up in the pipe thanks again smoke

yep just add another section of double wall length of choice.

only the inner portion. theres supports between the inner and outer that would not allow any sort of cleaning.

I was just going to add the the "Pellet Stove Termination Adapter" part # 4DT-VPTA 1604805 is what separates the burn air from the intake air. These pics are from the Selkirk Catalog. The Blue arrow shows the cool input air for burning and the Red arrow shown the hot flue air exiting the pipe.

yes that is the adapter for a horizontal termination.

So you need the termination cap plus the spark screen and the outlet screen ?

my double wall extends past the flashing cone but doesn't have the single wall extension that grahams does.

Yes, I think the single wall extension is a great idea to separate the flue more from the intake air!

I cant use that on my install I need to come out with 2 45's then straight up and out. I am coming out of a zero clearance box

Same here. Just a little bit on the end. Little bit of hot water cleans it right up.
