I'm looking at a used Hearthstone Tribute 8040 on FB marketplace. Based on the tag, it appears to have been made 2006-2008. He says it's in "really good shape" and wants $1,000 obo for the stove and various odds and ends (ash bucket, heat shield, fire tools, some stove pipe), none of which I need.

That seems like a lot for a 20-year-old stove, but I know Hearthstones are expensive stoves, and I think they are well designed for swapping out broken parts. (True?)

What questions should I ask before making a 1.5-hour drive to look at it? (It does NOT include the optional fan and thermostat.) AND, what should I look really closely at before I hand him the money?
