Cold by Georgia standards anyways, its actually spitting a little snow! :)

I finally got around to organizing my most recent scrounge. Got all the pieces that were a normal length stacked up and ready to split, and mad a "needs to be trimmed" pile.

Heres the trim pile in the background, and a little bit that I split when I got tired of rolling around those big rounds ;lol

Gotta go back to college soon, so this'll be waiting and off the ground next time I come home;)

Good to have "something" waiting for ya when ya get home next time.;)

I always look forward to coming home and getting some splitting done!

Especially when I have a nice pile of oak. Now that stack of sweetgum in the background, I'm not so excited about

There's some big rounds there - what type of wood is it? is it heavy?

Bring a few big wedges home for that sweet gum.

Smells like red oak so im going with that, and yes they're heavy!

I've tried going at those gum rounds with a sledge and wedge and they just swallowed them up and barely started a crack. Ill be renting a splitter for sure

Last time I used a wedge trying to split gum, I had to use the chainsaw to cut it out. I avoid it at all cost.

I feel your pain. The last load of sweetgum I had had to be noodled for nearly every split. Half of that load got rolled into the woods in anger ;lol
