can anyone tell me what size chuck is needed toto use sooteater chimney cleaner? is there an adapter for 3/8 or is it problematic (torque issue on adapter) Is it better to use a 1/2 inch chuck w/out an adapter?(assuming that a 1/2 inch rod has a 1/2 inch end for a 1/2 inch chuck) Thanks

The sooteater will fit in a 3/8" chuck. I use it in my 20 year old 9.6v dewalt cordless and it has enough torque for straight runs, but as soon as you go around a bend it needs more torque. So in my bendy chimney I use a corded drill, also 3/8.
