Hello,

A local dealer here is selling pellets under the name "Spruce Pointe." I have looked at the wood pellet institute's list of manufacturers and performed google searches for this product. I can't find anything.

Does anyone know about these pellets and their quality? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Did a google search: Woodpelletprice.com

Spruce Pointe Premium Softwood

I have them, they are sold in wraps of 1.4 ton i think it is at my local ACE store 303 each with taxes. Seem to burn well even though my stove says to use hardwood only, but im new at all this

What kind of stove do you have? I'm not familiar with one that specifies the species of pellet (hardwood vs. softwood). Most do specify Premium (which can be hard or soft) but some will handle both Premium and Standard (standard can have up to 3% ash vs. Premium can only be up to 1% ash).

I have a new englander. IT says Use PRemium Hardwood pellets
Yep, that's what I thought. You can use either Hardwood or Softwood (or mixed blend) Premium pellets.

To be rated Premium according to PFI standards they have to meet the same standards as Standard grade pellets but with less than 1% ash (vs. 3% for the Standard). Lennox stoves can burn either Premium or Standard grade pellets. Quads I think can burn Premium pellets or pellet/corn mixes. Other manufacturers are similar.

First year pellet stove owner ( so take this for what it's worth. )
I paid for 2 tons of New England premium pellets at local Ace store in June for a Sept. delivery, when pellets where delivered they delivered Spruce Pointe pellets =(.
Needless to say I wasn't to happy, they told me they were premium pellets, I said, ya but there not what I ordered, by that time I had to take them, no pellets to be found around this area.
Just started to burn the Spruce Pointes this week, to my surprise they seem to burn pretty good, no clinkers and ash seems to be pretty good.

It seems that buying pellets from places like Ace, Tru Value, Tractor Supply, etc is hit or miss. The same thing happened to me at TSC...they said I was getting Energex (eh, so-so pellets), but to my surprise, they got Lignetics delivered! YIPPEE!

You just never know. I have my last ton on order from a lumber yard, and am hoping it is what they said it would be....Lignetics. But if they are something else, as long as they are "premium" and listed w/ the Pellet Fuels Institute, I will probably take them.

I have used them for the first time this year and have been very happy with them. I have been able to burn 8 bags or more with out having a failure to light or needing to clean the ash pot. The last ones I bought and Home Depot I needed to clean the pot out after two bags or the stove would not light. They burn nice and seem to put out a good amount of heat. I would definately recommend them.

I have a couple bags of these to try and loaded the first one today. Seem to burn pretty good, but this was the first time I've had my Mt Vernon start to fill the burn point (lazy flame). I turned the feed rate all the way down and they seem to be doing pretty good now with nice heat output.

i just got a ton of these for my father for 250... got 3 bags, tested and loved em, great heat and low ash
