I am fixing up my Auburn Stove in the shop right now. I replaced the main combustion fan a couple years ago. Around the back of the fan cover I can feel air coming out with my hand. The gaskets look good. There is no gasket where I feel this. Is this normal. I have attached some pics. Thanks

That is the room air blower. I don't think air should be coming out there, but I also don't think it's doing any harm other than it's not going through the heat exchanger. It looks like some gasketing is missing on the outside edges of the passages.

Ok, you made me get up and check mine out. That is normal, there is no gasket there and yes air comes out. It's cool air

Same here. My gasketing looks the same, but there is very little air coming out, hardly noticeable.

Is the gasket there to reduce vibration? Would that gap act as an intake for the convection fans or is there another area?

The air is drawn in at each end, and comes out these openings. No screens. One motor that drives two squirrel cages. It does move a lot of air![Hearth.com] St. Croix Auburn Leaking Air Around Combustion Fan
