Sticky for Good/Bad System Components (Valves, Controls, etc.)?

As a noob, I have very little knowledge about what controls and valves are available and if they work well. A "one stop shop" for info about what you folks like and don't like would be great! I'm also interested in what temp sensors and monitoring equipment you're using as well.
