Am am in Germany now, very near their manufacturing plant. Durring lunch I asked one of my German coworkers how they (Germans) pronounce it. He said it like this: Shteel

Funny story about them losing the War. . .due in part to their gear being made too well! Apparently, they had big trouble with some of their gear gear made with tight tolerances siezing up in sub-zero temps on the Eastern Front, while the Russian stuff manufactured with more sloppy tolerances kludged right along. Personally, I'm a fan of well made hardware.
