Good day to you all. I recently purchased a 25-pdvc/55-shp10 pellet stove by England stove works second hand and installed it my self. It's was up and running for about four hours and I thought everything was fine, but my brother stopped in to see how it was working ( he has the same stove) and he informed me that the stove is getting to hot on the side and top for the setting. I could smell the metal getting hot but this is my first pellet stove so I just figured it was normal. The settings were on 2 feed and 2 blower speed. On these settings the sides and top of the stove are too hot to touch, he says not normal. After playing around with it we went to check his out and on the lower settings his does not get anywhere close to as hot to the touch. Also his convection blower seems to have more power as well. The numbers on the three bottom buttons read 6-4-1 on his stove from left to right, and 3-3-3 on mine. Would this make it burn hotter than my brother's stove, or do I have a problem?
Thanks.

I don't have your stove but I have a novel thought, change your settings to his and see what happens . You can always change it back again. Meanwhile maybe someone will be along who knows more about your model stove and it's settings.

Yes, I have thought of that, but I didn't want to mess with these buttons because I really don't know what they do and if they should be set different for every individual set up. His exhaust vent runs up the wall out side, and mine runs up the wall inside for six feet before going outside.

Check to see what mode it's in. factory should be D

Checking / setting the Heat Mode
Heat Mode, the default setting is 'd' for the 25-PDVC, and for the 25-PDV it is 'c', but some control boards default to 'A' when a reset is done. Do not run the stove in 'A' or 'b' mode.
Unplug the stove from the mains.
Plug power lead back in and press both the up and down blower speed buttons at the same time within 4 - 5 seconds and then release the buttons, you should now see a letter (A, b, c or d) in the left or right digital display under heat range or blower setting, you need to change this to 'd' or 'c' using the up / down buttons below that readout, or in case of the 25-PDV you need to use both buttons up or down, once set to 'd' or 'c' wait 10 - 15 seconds then unplug the power again and wait 5 seconds. (Sometimes the mode that you want does not set and defaults back to the mode that it was in before, repeat this step to make sure the mode that you want is set.)

The 3 lower buttons factory settings for the 25-PDVC should be
LFF = 6
LBA = 4
AOT = 1

Note: The 25-PDVC can be run in mode 'c'. Never run the 25-PDVC in 'A' or 'b' mode.

Thank you very much. I have checked the mode and it was on d, and changed the the numbers on the bottom three. Time to fire it back up and see what happens.

Are you using different pellets than your brother? Seems to me (not knowing anything about your particular stove by the way), that if you are using DF pellets, and he is using ThermaGlo's (as an example), that the heat output would be vastly different.

x2 on the pellets. Depending on the brand I need to run my pdvc 5-6 on the feed, or dial it down to 2-3 with a hotter pellet....major difference between brands. FYI I cannot touch the side or top of mine either when it's honking along. Once you get it dialed in I hope yours works as well as mine :)
