Question:
We are building a new house with a fireplace. But rather than have an open fireplace that is not very efficient, we would like to use a woodstove door across the opening, and build the fireplace with an external air intake. Is there any reason we shouldn't do this? And if it is okay to do, what is the best way to build it?
Answer:
Jean, the best way is to use a door designed for just this use. Try Wilkening Fireplace at https://www.hearth.com/wilkening
