I'm thinking of buying a fairly cheap pellet stove to heat my basement, and this one seems good for the price. The only problem is the owner has no idea what brand or model it is!

Any thoughts?

Looks like an enviro EF2. Very basic stove but a good one from what i understand.

Yes indeed that's an Enviro EF2. Good solid heater, about 35000btus, in good condition will heat around 1200-1300 sqft. Its analog feed dials and fan control, the stove debuted in the early 90's. Its still in production, although limited in numbers made each year. They made a no ignitor version and an ignitor version. Looks like she could use some caring for, motors cleaned, the internal plates removed and cleaned behind, the air tubes cleaned in the top and a good coat of paint. Parts and a manual are still on Enviro's website.

Hello
Yes it is a very good stove and if it is the older version with the solid 3/4" auger shaft the upgraded Nylatron bearing and end plate will make that feed pellets like no tomorrow! PC me for info on that!
Good luck!

P. S. You cannot plug a t-stat into it but with a new digital control panel upgrade and wire harness you can. :)

They do actually have a timer block kit that would let the stove run on a thermostat. Adding that would essentially make the stove an EF4. The cost to do that change to the stove (I wouldn't call it an upgrade exactly) is pretty darn insane. You could get the phase controller aftermarket I would imagine but the timer block I haven't ever found anywhere but Enviro. The EF2 though was and is a very well built stove that will last pretty much forever with some TLC.

Yes u are correct on the timer block kit but from what I hear of how it works and the cost, we really do not recommend it. The digital control panel is a very good upgrade and has been successfully installed by another forum member even though it is not an OEM upgrade kit.

There is no digital upgrade to the EF2.
