Stove or furnace?

My circumstances have changed since my loaded question. Quite substantially actually!

First, I am selling my property, and will be needing to heat a 3,000+ sq ft steel building.

My little vigilant struggles with my current cinder block building at 2000sq ft when it gets into the single digits... Would I be better off with a wood furnace?

I'd prefer to stay away from coal.

With that said, I'm comfortable witha wood furnace, though I may still get another vigilant as an area heater, as I do enjoy working with the stove.

Of course a furnace will be better. More heat they are bigger.

Wood furnaces throw alot of heat....alot.

A stove is a space heater. A furnace is central heating that you can direct to where you need it. I would use a stove in a big open area or floor plan where you didn't need it to be as warm at the far ends of the space as you would closer to the stove, or where you have no electricity - all else a furnace or boiler. Just can't beat the overall heat distribution & generation of a furnace or boiler.

If you go with a furnace (my suggestion also) get a clean-burning Caddy, Kumma etc. Don't be tempted to get a Tractor Supply smoke dragon that will eat wood and make lotsa......creosote!

I will echo BoilerMan's suggestion. Spend a little more and be satisfied much longer.

Well I'd def be going through an actual supplier and probably have it installed... When it comes to this kind of stuff, tractor supply doesn't really offer the expertise. Plus 99% is made in CHINA
