Tried to light the stove for the first time this year won't draft at all. Filled the house up with smoke:mad: After getting it out and fans going saw a large bee in the bottom I think a eviction notice shall be served

Did you try warming the flue? Might just need a little heat to get the draft going.

Might need the bee hive removed.

Light the hive on fire, warms the chimney and gets rid of the bees*. Two birds one stone.

*Disclaimer: Unless they are native honeybees, then please save them as they are declining. Wasps/yellowjackets, have fun.

TOTAL BLOCKAGE and not honey bees looks like a wasp , had a few come down into the stove smoke and die

What do you have for a chimney, class A or masonry? If class A, double or triple wall?

begreen was one of your posts in another thread supposed to land here.. - something about a sticky on restricted draft ...?

Well they ain't much in the way of BTUs. Cleaned the flue about 2 weeks ago after first firing off a small very hot fire the day before. Go up top, tap on stack, all seems good pull the top start the brush_-hey whats with the dive bombers , oops they got needels too. Son of a guns built a good sized nest down under the rain cap/flashing. Fortunately it was pretty cool out so they were quite groggy for the most part.

ok new problem house smells like a fireplace;sick any Ideas to tone the smell down

Haven't had that yet, but the sure like my electric service pipe entrance ahead of the meter.

OK I'm Ashamed to tell you all but there is nothing in the flue. Had to be a cold plug;em

I have a short chimney and always have a ball or two of newspaper on top to send a slug of hot air un the chimney first. Maybe not needed 99% of the time but little chance of smoking the house up.

I will do that every time now

If you have a fairly tight house cracking a window can help a bunch at times too. Mine is 140 years old so plenty of leaks here.
