Well I stuck it up there as BG instructions (worked good) and the results are it seemed to raise the stove temp about 50 to 100 degrees and the flue temp has gone down the same so the new chimney will make it work like its supposed to.

Congratulations it sounds like you got it figured out. From what I have seen that stove will throw some serious heat at 750 on the stove top and your gonna love it!
If I remember correctly you were going to just add a temporary small section to see if it would help so have you figured out how your going to change the chimney permanently for next winter.

My plans are to take out the masonary one and put in a metal 6 inch straight up 18 footer, losing the 2- 90's and haveing the 6 inch flue should turn it into a Hoover.
It's just a cheap piece of pipe stuck in the liner, pictures would make you think it was a red neck chimney (maybe it is).Rob From Wisconsin said:

oldspark, it is good to hear you are getting this thing figured out. And I hope those storms are missing you but it sounds sort of nasty out there.
Just rainy and cool here, we had our share of storms a week ago, the roof is easy to get up on so even an old man (me) can do it.

Once you get 6" straight up for 18 feet, it will be interesting to hear if you then decide to experiment with the damper again. Let us know.

How high will the chimney be from stove top up? It looks from other post it will be 18'. If it was shorter than that before then I could see a draft problem.
It was a 7 1/4 inch round liner so lose a little with the over size and there is 2-90's in the 18 ft so that can be equal to removing 6 to 10 ft off the effective length of the chimney. I had a chimney that worked great with the Nashua but aint getting it with the Summit.wkpoor said:
