The 30 in the walk-in fireplace

Beautiful home you have there browning!
I did my windows last year, 23 in all, 6 inches of spray foam under the roof 5 years ago.
expensive but once you cut all the drafts these stone houses nearly heat themselves.....nearly
again beautiful home.

That and tackling the roof should do wonders. I know you don't have many choices for the stone walls with no cavity to insulate.

Already have storm windows and I have gone through more tubes of caulk than I care to count.

The floor is what is annoying me the most during the winter. Several spots have cold air coming up through the floor. Problem is, I do not have a basement or crawl space for easy access... or any access, really.

iPad, cellphones are all like that - its the optics. The tiny fixed lens is the limiting factor no mater how good the sensor.

Yep, I'm happy with it. Just looks smaller than the other two stoves that have sat there.

Nice oven, BAR! I had hoped to find evidence from one in my fireplace when I removed the plaster, but if there ever was one, they did a good job of covering it.

I see a chestnut roaster hanging from the mantel. Ever use it? Just got one myself.

I agree... Yarzy's fireplace looks eerily familiar. Spent a lot of time in various old houses around Chalfont in my youth... maybe I have seen it!

The wife put a few candles on it a few years back. The Vigilant melted them down pretty quickly.

Given the vintage of BAR's house, I suspect that shelf is (or once was) an oven. They did away with rear-wall ovens not long after that house was built, going to the more "modern" side ovens, as burning housewife does not smell good.

I think the shelf was fabricated much later when the Summer Kitchen was renovated several years ago. It just doesn't look right when you look at how it fits into the fireplace.

I could be wrong.

Maybe! It's funny what owners will do during renovations.

Any evidence of an old bee-hive oven on the outside of the house, still present or since removed? Hard to say from a single iPad photo, but the size of the opening doesn't look far off from others I've seen.
