I'd like to get a rug to protect my old wood floor in front of my stove. I have the 18" of protection in front of my stove but the floor still get to 120°. I've seen hearth rugs on line that are for " protection of embers and heat". Could I use 100% wool rug? Any suggestions appreciated.

We have one in front of the hearth, mostly for the cat. It's made of wool. I don't let embers land on it. Fiberglass is better but we couldn't find one that was a reasonable match to the persian rug in the same room.

I've mentioned before that we had to send out the Persian rug in the living room to be fixed because an ember landed it. We now have a fiberglass rug in front and a polyester throw rug on top since it's more of a match. Plus, we're more careful. As an aside, the fiberglass rug is slippery, so I screwed it down to the floor with washers so it wouldn't move around.

Yes, that's why our nice rug is about 6 ft away from the stove.

I looked at the ones on efireplacestore, and saw some I liked. I'm not worried about embers so much since I have an Oslo and use the side loading door. I have a fiberglass one, it doesn't do much for heat.
