My first post here, so hello all! I purchased a home with a Thermo-Pride WC-27 wood stove. I've downloaded a manual for the stove and there are still a few things I don't quite understand. First of all I will say that the previous owners of the home told me that this stove was not the original that was in the home. With that said, I was reading the manual about the fan/limit control and I don't think the placement is right on mine. Here is a picture.

According to the manual it looks like it should be installed in line with the firebox.

Also on the plenum there is the fan/limit control and there is also a therm o disc. I can't understand why there is both installed.

And my last question is about the stock fan/limit control. I've had problems with the coil/spring sticking and not kicking on at the proper temperature. Here is a link to the stock replacment.

I was wondering if I could replace it with something like these.

Sorry for the lengthy first post, but I would just like to get to know my new furnace and keep it going safely for my family. Thanks!!

We have the same furnace. I don't know if you already got this answer but, ours is installed right above the brown portion in the front corner (fire box?). We've lived here for almost 20 years and our furnace has been dependable.

Mt thermo pride wood furnace does not seem to put out much heat. I grew up heating with wood and wood keep house warm. Thos wood furnace will not heat up the house much. The oil burner puts put more heat but it should not be this way. Any one have a idea

I can’t comment about the thermo pride but my Clayton has it on the back of the stove in the jacket.

The previous owner may have placed it there to keep the fan running longer and help eliminate cycling. It seems to me having it there would call for heat sooner and likely the demand would not be met as quickly. This is just me thinking out loud though.
