Thermostat on p38 Help. (please)

Hello everyone,

I have a Harman p-38 that I would like to use a wireless thermostat with. The one I bought is this one:

The problem I'm having is when I connect the receiver to the two terminals on the board the stove goes to turbo and stays. (This is when the thermo is not calling for heat) When I checked the receiver leads with an ohmmeter I get no continuity. Am I correct that the receiver just acts as a switch or am I missing something. I am wondering if maybe the receiver is defective? Or is this thermostat not designed to be used with this stove? This forum is a great resource and I am thankful for all the great posters.

That model works, HD and Lowes have a similar one, that is probably OK. It is a mechanical thermostat, other types won't work. I tried.

Think the OP was looking for a wireless unit. Search the forums for wireless t-stat. I use a skytech wireless.

On a Harman P38? I don't think so, has to be a mechanical thermostat, rated for 500 millivolts.

I should have done my DD before I bought this. Running the wire is the problem. I'll figure it out.

Denny, take your time and do it. It works great with the thermostat, I am very happy. I was in the same boat as you.

how far did you locate your thermo from the stove. part of the reason I wanted to go wireless was to experiment with different locations.

17 feet! I'm sure you can extend it quite a bit longer.

Tom, how does this mechanical thermostat wire up to the P38? How does it work.?

It's been a few years since I installed it, but this should help. Go to pages 19 & 20. The diagram shows the terminals for the thermostat and the type of thermostat.
