Did you have outside air hooked up or room air? I have an oak and my burn pot cracked this week and i was wondering if it might be from the cold air hitting the hot metal. When I shut my stove down to clean it and the fans are still running and drawing in cool air, you can hear the metal pop inside the stove sometimes.

I have pots both ways crack on two different manufactures

I think all pellet stoves will eventually suffer a crack in the burn pot, with or without OK. I might even guess that a stove with OAK will go longer before getting a cracked burn pot, because the outside air keeps the burnpot metal temperature lower.

Not all pots are built equally. The bottom plate of the Bixby is 3/8 and the upper portion is a titanium blend 1/4 inch in thichness. When my Elena degrades further will cut out the bottom and put in a better thicker plate. I am having the igniter port degrading now too.

My plan is to replace my Ecoteck burn-pot when its "done"....mine is now on its 4th year of use, maybe 15 tons of pellets thru the stove....the pot just got its first crack/void between two of the holes on the bottom....$90 every 4 years or so is fine with me....

This just reminded me that I meant to call the dealer. Just noticed this past weekend that one weld on my burn pot is cracked. They quoted me $119 for a new one. Think I may look into getting it welded.

Time wise I would be better off just buying a replacement for the Elena. If I rebuild it myself to what I think should work, never have to do again.
