Through Ceiling Flue Piping: Got the basics; am I missing anything?

Ok time to go ahead and do this!

We have a low roof (almost like a pre-fab) so I think this (Mobile home kit below) will work. I might need a 4' chimney vs 3 footer but it looks like this is just like the through the ceiling kit but with 2 - 2' sections of chimney for another $80 or so vs just the 'through the ceiling kit'. I see two pieces in the normal kit missing from this kit but no idea if I'll need them. EDIT: Turns out to be attic insulation cap for the ceiling box and it is needed and costs around $90.

Seems like everything but want to make sure first! I see some instructions say just screw it together (3 screws per joint and with no sealant) but what do you guys think?

I think triple wall pipe is silly. It makes the OD 2" bigger, and still requires the same 2" ctc.

When looking at kits like that, price out components individually. Sometimes they cost less to buy individually. And sometimes there's stuff in that kit you don't need.

Thanks! I didn't even notice the triple wall detail there. Looks like Double wall is an extra foot free vs triple:

Beyond the roof though, don't I need stainless once I leave the indoors?

Also, wouldn't I need most/all of that in the kit in order to run through the drywall ceiling and roof?


EDIT: I just got off the phone with DuraVent and the tech help said that the black double wall stuff is not Class A and wouldn't work past the ceiling. So do I have to have Triple Wall then? That's what she was implying (stainless inner layer triple wall).

That is double wall connector, to go from the stove to the chimney.

DuraTech is DuraVent's double wall class A.

You need class A (the shiny stuff) once you penetrate a ceiling or wall.

Do you have a cathedral ceiling ?

Thanks for that! I have an attic and a pretty low roof pitch (maybe 4-12 will need to go see). I'd guess from the floor to the top of the chimney will be 15-16 feet total with 3 feet of chimney protruding the roof 2 feet above the nearest straight horizontal shot 10 feet from the roof.

I just took a look at some DuraTech prices and it looks like the double wall is pricier than the triple wall (at least from what I've seen). Am I looking in the wrong places? I'm fine with not using H.D. if I can find it reasonably elsewhere. It looks like I'd be spending $300 for the kit linked above with 2x2'worth of chimney pipe included in the kit, plus another 3 feet of chimney for $85 and the single wall telescopic pipe for $50. That'd be $435 from stove to rain cap. If I could do it cheaper than that and still safe/quality, I'd be thrilled.

If not, I'll price the pieces individually also. Locally I've got Menards, HD, and Lowes to choose from. We're on a very tight budget right now so every buck saved counts! Thanks a lot for the advice guys. I've researched this a good bit but being a first install, it's easy to overlook.

DuraPlus is the economy line. DuraTech is more expensive than DuraPlus. Compare HD prices with these folks. They used to be called DynamiteBuys.com, but are changing their name. http://www.woodstovepro.com

Would seem the plus should be more expensive. Interesting to note that the DuraTech has a .020" inside wall thickness, compared to .016" for the DuraPlus.

Look at the Supervent at Menard's. It may save some bucks, it's good stuff, and they stock most everything in 6", at least around here. Last time I had to special order any chimney pieces, they were shipped to my house for free.

Good tip on Menards if one is located in the mid-west. They have good prices.
