Tightening Muffler on Husky 141

I noticed the other day that my muffler has come loose on my 141. I took the cover off, and the small nut on the outside of the muffler,
but I cannot get the muffler, or part of it to come off. The two exhaust tubes slide about 3/8" out, but that's it. Is there anything else I
need to remove to get at the offending bolt(s)?

now if I remember right the tubes on the front if you look into them there is 2 bolts in there that tighten the muffler to the power head I would put some locktight on them first pretty common problem hope this helps Bo

I took a cursory look down those tubes this morning. Looks like some sort of star bit goes down there.

My saws have Allen head bolts mounting the mufflers, your 141 might have Torx head bolts, that would explain the "star" shape. the owners manual might highlight this in the parts list. I cheap set of torx screw driver style tools can be had for about $15.

husqvarnas are known for this problem in their smaller saws I think the 353 is the first one with three mounting screws my buddy has a 139 or 137 same saw as yours but older model and his did that he pulled the screws out and they had aluminum threads on the screw he thought it was stripped the shop he bought it at said just tighten them with locktight and if they strip out they would replace the saw it was only a couple weeks old at that point now he has had it for about seven yrs with no problem good luck

Definitely a good investment if you are going to be doing any tinkering with chainsaws
