We have chosen a wood insert for a very small opening (limited options will fit). But the window size of the insert is so small (17”w x 9”h), we’re wondering if it’ll be with the thousands of dollars this will cost. Anyone else have such a small wood insert/tiny window? Will we even be able to see any flame haha we mainly want this for the atmosphere it’ll create, not necessarily as a primary heat source.
This is the one we’ve chosen (Regency Ci1150) 55236512-5250-4279-9E3B-CF3C8E47D9EF.jpeg: https://www.regency-fire.com/en/Products/Wood/Wood-Inserts/CI1150#divFullSpecs

I have a Regency H2100 Hearth Heater, purchased in 2017 and has heated my 1700 sq.ft home without using my central heat/air at all.

I find the window of my wood stove to be plenty enough for viewing. Never looked at the window and thought "wish I was a little larger...".

If you are looking for theatrics, you might want to look at replacing the stove with a large display, hooked wirelessly to a Youtube video showing one of those videos of a perfect fire for 8 hours or more. You will save labor costs getting the fire going and you can rotate out different themed displays, such as "Fire Display", "4th of July Display", "Babbling Brook Display" and choose the display theme at will!

As long as you burn hit enough to keep the window clean you should be able to see the fire. Once you see fire, it's not really (to me) an issue how large the view is.
