Today's haul

Got four truckloads of wood, mostly maple, not sure what kind, and some ash mixed in. My neighbor had some trees taken down, had already bucked it up, just needed a suitor to take it away! Well lucky for me, he knows I'm a wood burner Good ole word of mouth!
I'm missing a photo from the fourth load, due to sunlight quickly disappearing and had to haul ass!

The first load was light, because I got a flat tire on my wheelbarrow and had to leave room to toss it on top to get some air in the tire.

Nice haul! We hauled 3 loads of pine today, heavy stuff. But it all helps in the 3 year plan. I'm probably only about 1.5 right now.

lol I've got my "3 years from now plan" all set (oak) , but no next winter plan yet haha, hopefully this helps.

Awesome, seems like a lot of people were getting ready for the future winters these last couple of days. I grabbed three truck loads of black locust yesterday and this morning. It's a great feeling to get more free wood.

Yeah and the lack of snow this year is great, I can actually get out there. Last year this time, there was 4-5 feet on the ground.

It's awesome isn't it end of February and it was 45 today. Plus I've burned about half of the wood I thought this year just that much farther ahead.

We took our son to visit a college in Buffalo this weekend. Lowest temp I saw on the way up was 14, and it was up to 64 on the way home today. I was thinking it would be a great day to get some blowdowns out of the woods, but I spent 7 hours driving instead. Oh well, it was a great weekend, and thinking about the trees I want to work up when I get my 261 this week kept me entertained on the long ride. Nice score, Jay!

I spend the entire day today splitting this load, so far its stacked out a little over a cord, which makes sense since i have a 5.5ft bed (1/3 cord per load). I ran out of daylight, and I still have the smaller rounds from the first load, which is also lots of tree tops, 1-2" diameter pieces, which doesn't need splitting. So maybe 1/3 cord more to get done.

I think I saw we had 20 days of 60+ degree days this winter in southeastern PA. Just crazy.
I haven't burned 3 cords yet this year. 1 cord was Black cherry. Saving all my oak for some cold
Weather. Next year.

D'Youville. Of the 8 he was accepted to, that's the only one recruiting him to play baseball. Sounds like he is going to commit there. Got a nice academic scholarship there, which helps!

Excellent! Let me know how you like it. I run a 20" bar on mine and find that it will handle most every day jobs. It never hurts to have a small limber like a ms180 or a large feller like the ms461 but if I could only have one saw for the rest of my life it would be a ms261!

Funny you mention that beef on weck. I asked coach and he recommended the Seabar and to try the beef on weck. I loved it!

i have a 170 for small stuff and a 460 for the big 'uns plus the Echo 590, I think I need to quit buying saws I'm set for quite a while. I'll keep the 18" on the 261. Actually I have a brand new bar on the 290 I acquired so if they're the same I'll swap them. I have to get the right size file for the .325 also

I'm just jealous. I'd rather be cutting wood some days instead of being at work. I think I spotted an Osage tree ( at least mulberry ) where I was working today, didn't have time to get close in the dozer to check it out but I saw some mustard yellow wood where an excavator pushed it aside a little. Might have to investigate that one a little closer tomorrow

I have an unusual schedule, so sometimes "my weekend" is Tuesday-Wednesday, or any other two days of the week.
