Hey guys, i have a question, as i am trying to get my long burn times, i fill my insert 2/3 full, i would say 5 or 6 pieces, with a good coal bed. I get it going pretty good, turn it down all they way. After about a hour it gets to about 700 temp range, and this is the air all the way down. It stays at this temp for about 30 to 45 min then going back to about 550 or so. Is this too hot? am i putting too much wood in, should i remove 1 piece? I appreciate the help.

That is not too hot, but try reloading it a little later. Rake the hot coals to the front and burn down the coals a bit more by opening the air for 30 minutes before reloading.

Nope. Not too hot at all. If you are laying that load on a spread coal bed it is all offgassing at once. The best way to reload is to drag the coal bed to the front and load behind it and let the load "cigar burn" from front to back.

BG and me were typing at the same time.

This is why i love this forum, thanks guys, and on a side note, i was looking at the wood sheds you guys have in a different post, i feel like im watching wood burning porn, i get excited looking at the sheds and your wood, ;) no pun intended.
