Top Auger stopped working Summers Heat 55-SHP10

Had the pellet stove on and the unit shut itself off. After discovered it was because the top auger stopped feeding pellets into the loser auger. Emptied the hopper and vacumed all pellets from around the top auger, don't see anything causing a blockage. Not sure what the next trouble shooting step would be to identify the problem.

First, helps if we know what brand/model pellet stove you have. Best if it can be included in the title...

Several reasons for an auger to stop: vacuum problems, hopper/door switch not registering that they are closed, high limit switch activated and shut it down, motor died, etc.

Not 100% sure. I'm not the most mechically inclined. How would I determine if the moter is working or getting power?

For an Englander stove, unplug stove, change leads from bottom auger to the top auger and from the top auger to the bottom. Replug stove and test...

Always remember to unplug the stove when working in the cabinet to avoid shock or shorting electrical components...

You would have to get a voltmeter and measure the voltage going to the motor.

How old is the stove and how much have you burned? Have you cleaned the internal exhaust pathways and venting?

From another thread, Mike Holton (Englander tech) mentioned switching the power leads to the augers as a quick test to rule out wiring/board. Bottom auger will stop working if there is a problem. If the top auger still is not working, need to look at other origin of problem...

Page 18 of the manual - vacuum switch port in the fire box - see note at bottom of page about making sure it is free of ash. Should have told you that first
