Hi
My dealer is carrying New England Pellets for the 1st time for this seasons early buy . But I can not find info on them.
They are the same price as Turmans so I am assuming they must be a good pellet.
Just wondering if anyone has tried them or has an opinion of 1 versus the other.
Thanks

Absolutely no comparison between the two. Turmans win hands down

Thanks I thought I read Turmans were the gold standard of pellets somewhere on here. But when I saw same price per ton I thought maybe these were something new since I read about Turmans

There is no way those pellets compare and the fact they are selling at the same price is puzzling. I used them both and will only buy NEWP's if I can't find anything else. If I can find Turman's at a good price, that would be the only pellet I'd use.

I've never burned Turmans but I have burned NEWPs. Keep inimd my Harman will burn anything, but I did not like the NEWPs at all. Ashy, medium heat and WAY overpriced for the quality. They are at best a $220/ton pellet but are always being sold for much more-at least around me.

Like the poster above, I would only burn if no other option was available.

I've burned both, HUGE difference. As has been mentioned, I can't believe they are the same price. Go with Turman.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I stayed with ALL Turmans , as you all suggested
That was my gut feeling but I thought I might try 1 ton of another brand if they were comparable
Glad I asked before I placed my order.

Coincidently
After I placed my order
I had a couple of bags of Barefoot in the house so I thought let me burn them...
Oh they are NO Comparison to the Turmans...
I would say they are producing 5 times the ash and making my stove much dirtier...
That happened with just burning 2 bags of them....
Don't think I will be doing that again...
Oh well
Live and learn I guess ...

Don't be fooled by the price of NEWP. I found them horrible in all aspects. The only thing the price adds to them making them even more of a rip off for the crap they are.

Turman are a top shelf pellet... NEWP not so much

I'll give you an analogy.... you have a suitcase of money (no matter how much is in it). you walk into a dealer and you can have a corvette or a pinto, just drop the suitcase and pick up the keys. Turman is the corvette.

Love the analogy...
Point taken
I ordered ALL TURMANS for next year...
and most likely an extra ton or 2 just in case we have a really long & cold season ;) ...

"Turman or NEWP?" Is like saying "Jessica Alba or Janet Reno?"............

I don't understand the hate on hearth for NEWP. Been using them for years with no problems. Every time I switch to a "better pellet" I end up with issues. Sure the quality has diminished ..... But I feel like that has happened across the board because of demand.

I think that was the only point, the quality of NEWP's has gone done since the change in ownership. Why, who knows. A comparison between Turman's and NEWP's, is usually not made because they are two different qualities; Turman's produces far less ash and more BTU's, but you pay for it. Both heat your house.
