Two heat sources

Can anyone point me to the direction of a programmable thermostat that has a place for two heat sources. for example I can set a pellet stove to 70 degrees and have my gas furnace set to 50 for a back up.

Can't you just run 2 separate units? I keep my house oil zones on 55 in case the stove goes out/etc while i'm out.

I keep both my oil Thermostats set to OFF, so I do not accidently spend my money on oil!!

Assuming the stove doesn't go out, neither will I, but I know that it's there just in case. I'd rather spend a few bucks on oil than deal with a frozen pipe burst.

I have 2 thermostats...one for the pellet stove and one for the propane furnace. The propane is set at 55 incase the stove gos out when nobody is home. I have notn used it since I got my stove...thank god. This is my first year with a stat on the pellet stove. Plan on using HI/LO as soon as it needs to run 24/7

I'm not aware of a thermostat that can do that without using relays. You can't mix the control voltages from two different supplies thru one thermostat.

I've come across many dual thermostats in one package while searching for various thermostats, however two that would act as normally open in the same package so far none.

Thanks for the input, I am not sure why I didn't just think of this before I posted but instead of replacing my programmable thermostat for a more expensive one, I am going to put a cheap heat only thermostat in my Utility room and tie it to the gas furnace. It really is for backup only if the stove quits or I am out of town.

On a side note, I can't speak for any other manufacturer, but as for as supply of pellets this year, it might be short. I am producing more this year than I have the past and I am currently only have 4 semi loads on site and all are spoken for. Well Thanks again, I need to get back to bagging pellets!

You need atwo stage thermostat. I have used Honeywell Pro 8000 series to stage a heat pump
w/ outside sensor & bring the oil on @ 30 degrees. You can also use a room sensor on this thermostat, so if ypu wanted the down stairs to heat on oil. These stats are programmagable &
can get kind of complicated & expensive. You can get them on e-bay for about $80. Also April-Aire
has atwo stage stat for about $40.
You could put them on two stats like they say. I have a honeywell for my heat pump & propane
furance. I use a seprate stat for my pellet stove. Let me know if I can be of help

i was looking for this exact thing as well. i mean come on its damn simple... i have a pellet stove that runs on one 7 day program and an oil system that runs another 7 day program 2-3 degrees lower (in case the pellet stove shuts off).

right now i have 2 thermostats to do this.

but why isnt there a product out there that can do this in one location without needing relays and friggin robots?
