well about two days ago a big storm came in all of a suden, cooled everything right down to about 32 and hailed/rained for about 3 hours. Because i hate to hear the propane furnace kick on we lit up a fire for the night. Fantastic! Has anyone else had to have a fire yet?

It's 86 here now, thats kinda warm for early September. I still need to do my break-in fires but they will have to wait.
You bet. We've had a couple. The firebox is loaded and ready for a match right now even though it is currently right about 70 degrees outside. When the high temp for the day is 70 and into the 40s at night then the house will certainly cool down into the lower 60s which means fire time!
i still don't have my hearth finished... but even when i do... i'll wait till cooler nights to break in the DW
Just a couple of small take the chill off fires. I'm getting the itch, but will hold off til the highs are in the 50's before I start burning hot.
Started a fire last week for a couple days. Got into the low 50's during the day and brought the house temp down too low for the wife. I was happy to start the stove and kind of missed it!
Just got done with the install on my new Harman TL 300. Got a real bad case of the light er up blues. But its still way to warm to even try that yet. I expect the end of the month will bring good temps for break in fires.
I've been working on my FW240007 installation on weekends, and managed a couple of break-in fires. For the first, it was 95 out during the day, so I waited until it cooled off to 80 in the evening, then brought it back up to 95.
The second, we actually got some cold (40F) in the early morning, so I fired it up to 500 or so. Two smoke detectors went off, so we opened all the doors and windows. It still got up to 70
