Hello all. First time post. I live in a suburb of Montreal Canada where the powers that be plan on banning the use of fireplaces. This is going to happen in October 2025. This is what I was able to gather from the municipalities website.

The city of Laval will ban the use of solid fuel stoves and fireplaces emitting more than 7.5 grams of fine particles per hour.

We purchased our home a number of years ago and it came equipped with a BIS II. How would I go about determining how many grams of fine particles this specific model burns per hour. I do have the original manual but am unable to locate any information that related to that information.

Your time and assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Peter

The 2011 EPA testing report lists the BIS II emissions at 5.3 g/hr. If necessary, contact Security Chimneys for the testing report.

Thank you so much for the prompt response @begreen Funny that you should mention Security Chimney because I did call them after having posted my inquiry here on the forum. She did say that it was EPA compliant but made no mention of a report being available. Would you be kind enough to direct me to that report if one exists on the internet. Where did you obtain the information that I see in your attached image / screenshot? Thank you again. Peter

This is an old 2011 EPA report that I kept a copy of. Security is the only source for the actual testing data for back then, if they still have it on file.

@begreen I did call Security after reading your response. They no longer have any information related to our particular model. However, the rep that I spoke with suggested I get in touch with IHP (Innovative Hearth Products). I hope that they might provide with a report that I can use if / when the city decides to contact us.
