Okay, i'm a total virgin (well, my liner is a virgin). But, we realized that we need to do a midseason cleaning due to using less than seasoned wood so far.
I contacted a chimney sweep from my area who gave me a price of $111 plus tax to do a top down on the chimney, plus the pipe that goes from the furnace to the flue, and clean the inside of the firebox. Does that sound reasonable?
Anyone in upstate NY (plattsburg, malone, northern adironkacks) that can tell me anything about this guy (goes by "the chimney sweep") or recommend anyone else?
Also, I would like to do it myself from now on, but can't seem to find an oval brush. My liner is like 6x10 oval or something close to that.
