The EGT probe is after the exhaust fan in the aluminum adapter. The room air temp is another thermocouple that I drilled a small hole in the side of the room air flow. It’s under the side panel of the stove so you can’t see it. See arrow- it’s pointing a little low but it’s in that air stream

I replaced the door seal yesterday.. now I just need so colder weather to justify turning it on. I think I had a slight leak around the top of the door so it will be interesting to see if it makes a difference. Also in all of my reading on here I ran across a post that I can’t find again. Someone with this same style of stove said they had sealed around where the burn pot sits and even the larger side holes where the agitator goes through it? How did they go about sealing those air gaps up?

Steel wool most of the time.

Are the holes behind your backer board sealed, most plug those holes with 1 1/2 plugs for electrical box. Plugging them stops some heat from escaping out of the firebox into the exhaust path. Picture is my 6039 but you should have holes in B location on each side of your chute. Good thing about the plugs is they are easily removed so you can brush between the walls weekly.

Is it normal for the inside of the hopper to get pretty hot? I mean I expect it to get warm being so close to the heat. I can hold my hand on it for a few seconds.

The panel toward the fire box does get hot other three sides not so much.

Can't see very well through your beautiful fire but you do have a backer board on rear of fire box correct.

Flash point of wood in normally considered 550 - 600 ° F

I do have the backer board. It’s nothing I’m super worried about just thought it was a little warmer than I would expect. But other than that the stove has been purring along for just over 24hrs now, and the way the weather forecast looks it will be for the next week or so.

How’s my glass look for two and a half days of continuous running? Also I’ve fixed my un burnt pellet problem by increasing the air flow slightly. The new temps reflect the increased air flow. Room air temp 135f and EGT 275f. So slightly less efficient but burning better.

Looks about right especially if you have been burning on lower settings. Mine looks about same after a week and it has been burning on higher settings most nights have been in teens. Day time it has been going into idle for hours at a time which causes more soot/ash on glass. I tried to take picture but wifes new phone doesn't like brightness of fire can not see glass. Had to take vid with old Iphone.

I’m contemplating making a smaller burn pot, similar to the square ones in the 5500. My house requires less than 3pph at 15f outside. I’d also like to get the low end burn rate down to around 1pph or possibly a little lower. I can’t seem to do that with the huge burn pot in this stove. Time will tell lol
