Installed a Valor Portrait natural gas direct vent stove. Everything went well until the gas line had to be installed. The stove has a 3/8" gas connection. I have tried several different ways to get the line and a shutoff in the limited space available under the burner. Easy to get the gas line in the space, but the shutoff valve is difficult and probably wouldn't be accessible to shut off if necessary in an emergency. Have tried a 6" stainless flex line and a 12" flex line. All suggestions welcomed.

I can't see where the incoming gas connection is made on the valve,
but the proper way to do it is to come off the valve with a 3/8" BIP Nipple.
That is increased to 1/2" with an adapter. The shut off is attached to the
increaser & the shut off is attached to the 1/2 nipple. Flexible gas line to the shut off.
I realize it's difficult to work in there, but that's why everything should be attached
BEFORE the unit is pushed into position. Flexible gas line will give you some wiggle room...

Thanks Daksy. Removed stove and took a couple more photos showing the gas inlet, and another showing your suggestion I think. Not much space between the remote receiver and gas inlet. Will a 3/8" flex line work, or do I need 1/2"? Also, should I have a second shut off valve where the flex connects to the main supply line in back of the stove?

Ok. I see it now...
A short length of 3/8 will be fine.
Gas Code says there needs be a shut off within 5 feet of the gas valve.
Underneath the unit meets that requirement.
If you put another shut off in that line, put it where you tapped into the gas supply.
If you go with that Shut off set up, make sure you seal the threads &
check them for gas leaks.
