Question:
First of all great site!! I have 24" Temco Gas Logs, they are very light in weight and it is 39,000 BTU (on highest setting). When on, it omits a gas odor, not severe but you can tell the fireplace is on without going down to the finished basement where it is located. I understand ventless absorbs all odors from the room but is there anyway to cut down on the heat odor?
Answer:
Make certain the logs are in the exact correct position. make certain there are no ceiling fans or other sources of moving air around the fireplace. If they are LP, make certain the tank does not go less than 1/4 full before filling.
Also, basements can be very tight and short on combustion air. Make certain the room and fireplace can get some air from outdoors by cracking a window or removing some caulking, etc.
