I found this Youtube video that was just posted Dec 31, 2018. The person is showing the underside and guts of a 2005 Super. I suppose this is the Series D or at least very similar.

Anyhow, it does a good job showing how the secondary air linkage works. Also good detail for inside the firebox. (Warning: If you cringe at seeing rust, this video may not be for you.)

Even though it's dated 2005, that looks almost identical to the T5 my SIL has.

I purchased a pedestal Super 27 from the local dealer in 2018. I will have to remove the front panel to see how the secondary control works. Does it close the secondary at the same time as the primary? I thought I read somewhere that closing primary air diverts more air to the secondary system but I am not sure how this is achieved.

Pretty sure your box is the same as ours on the T5, and you should be able to slide the ash pan out to have a look at the air inlets and linkage. Part 1 of the video shows this. I didn't look closely yet at the secondary shutter plate, I'll need to take a mirror over there, but it seems to me that as you shut the primary air, the secondary shutter will also close over its air inlet...

My PE Pacific insert, has the same firebox, except that the secondary air tube is in the back.

I believe it is a "D" series.

The secondary was in the back in the video, just difficult angle to tell. I suppose , it is hard to make a quality solo video while upside down and underneath a stove.

The thing in the front of the box, where he takes the manifold out at about 4:00, is the boost air.
