I've been running a Fisher Garandpa Bear for years and am thinking about tradin up to something more modern with a rear flue. I love this stove and have lots of good wood for no cost, but I am a wood geek and want to see what I can do. I know I can sell my stove for $700ish and would like to throw a couple hundred more and get something with a self adjusting air inlet. I really have to work hard to keep my stove running right. Primarily when lighting a new fire and leaving the house soon after, the stove will over burn if let go.

My question is, what can a guy look for in the $700-$1000 range that will have good inlet control and work reliably? I'd rather not run a catalytic stove, but I do want secondary combustion.

Thanks

The only one i know of with a good automatic controll is blaze king and they are quite a bit more than 1000 and they are cat stoves.others may have more input on possible stoves. And 700 sounds like a lot for an old fisher around here they go for 300 or so but i now nothing about the market in your area
