Warm winter a comin...........

I just bought a new to me snowblower, first one since we bought this house. Now it will not snow all year Probably be warm to!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! LOL

That's funny. My neighbor's wife always starts looking for hints in the summer for his Christmas present. Years ago he said something one day about a snow blower. Next thing you know in my garage I have the largest walk-behind snow blower John Deere makes. And we didn't get more than an inch or two of snow for four years. He would just scrape the stuff off with his garden tractor.

They now have a diesel Kubota tractor so he gave the snow blower to another neighbor.

1 week after I bought our first snowblower, we received the biggest snow fall in 15-20 years (couple years ago) - very glad I bought the 2 stage unit!

Usually it is the opposite for me, but that time the timing could not have been more perfect.

Sounds like your in the erie/edinboro area......something tells me you' have plenty of snow to play with!

The year I bought my 4x4 and hung a snowplow off the front of it we didn't get more than a flurry till mid january or so. It was still cold as heck, just no snow.

Yep, in Erie right on the edge of the "snow belt". Lake effect snow can really sneak up on ya dump 12-20" and disappear.

Three years ago I bought a snowthrower at the end of the season and it say all summer in my basement. The following winter was the least for recorded snowfall on record, we only got a few dustings. I just knew, after 13 years of living in my house and shoveling the dang driveway every snowstorm that when I broke down and bought a machine that it wouldn't snow. However the following year, last year, was the worst on record with one snowfall giving us over 25 inches (a lot of Connecticut).

So, taking the longer view, this year may been a warm year but on average you'll likely get to use it. Until then, consider that your wood will get a little extra seasoning or your oil/gas/propane won't need to supplement your heating as much. Looking on the bright side

When I was earning my supper selling power equipment I had a gentleman come in the store and buy the largest 2-stage snowblower Toro makes. On his way out the door, another customer grouchily remarked "You know it won't snow now that you bough that thing." To which the gentleman replied: "In that case, I'll take two!"

In that case, we should have a short warm winter. Seems autumn is trying to make a very early arrival though....mornings are chilly!

Was the snow blower new? If I remember right you can't get the quick-hitch from JD anymore but you can get just about everything else including the blower itself.

No, very far from it. I actually got the snowblower and wheel weights by buying a 317 that came with them. Got the 317 running and sold it so the blower and weights ended up costing me $150.

The blower needs a little sprucing up which should get done on some rainy Saturday coming up.

Well Wendell, in weather, one extreme usually follows another. But which extreme? Very cold winter or lots of snow or very little snow or....

Awesome! 317's with a running Kohler is a rare find anymore. Most never get any serious motor work due to the insane replacement costs. Cheaper to just replace the whole tractor with a 318. Had a 317 sitting on the lot for a long time with a hole in the block. Not sure if its still there :lol: or they scrapped it after I left.
