WELCOME~ PacificGuyInCNY , brianosaur to the fire ring of hearth.com

Thanks Roo', as they say, it is an honor and a privilege.

Welcome PacificGuy. Given the tension around here this week I will wait a while before giving other Summit owners grief like I do Spike.

Keep'er burnin. It appears to be the second best stove around. And the best one available in whorehouse red.

The first being Osburn's line of superlative stoves.... or course that's what they mean.

Brother Bart: I would more likely take it as an insult if you DID go easy on me only in deference to my newbie status. Call it the Kid Brother syndrome. And even when you do start with your best shots it won't bother me, because:

1 - I learned a long time ago to treat the well-meaning but misguided notions of others with no more than mild bemusement: Polaris vs. Arctic Cat, Husqvrna vs. Stihl, Chevy vs. Ford (or in my case, a Nissan Titan just to be different), Cowboys vs. Eagles, AnyStove vs. a Pacific, yada yada yada; and

2. - Today I drove the trusty 4X4 down into the woods in back of my house, my Bro-In-Law and I cranked up our trusty Stihls and hauled out 2 1/2 cord of still-healthy deadwood log-lengths and sliced 'em all up. The fact that I have 3 teenage boys to to the grunt work was just icing on the cake (that and not getting stuck in the mudhole all three times back 'n forth). I'm set for the winter now, and no more complainin' about not having rounds to burn with my splits. Sittin' in the easy chair next to the fireplace, sippin' a cold frosty, and typin' on a warm laptop -- Life is good.

Mike: Just caught the caption under the pic - that's great man. Bring it on.

Warren: Osburns? They still makin' them things?

Thanks for the welcome everyone. (I was gonna say "thanks guys" but I wouldn't want to offend anyone by sounding sexist ...)

P.S. My summit is an insert so no whorehouse red - but I do have a relative in the automotive paint business so there's hope. I'm way open to advice on stove painting.

Welcome everyone, and have a happy new year.

Wow, 4 wheelin for splits, that is real livin !! Getting stuck is icing on the cake.......especially if there was a little mud slung.

(I love that red stove ! ) ;-)

No deference involved guy. Spike is the only Forum member I pick on, well and Elk. Jealousy ya know. I don't have a Summit and I don't know how to weld. With Elk it is because his advise always costs me money and work. That and he really has a great sense of humor when code violations aren't involved.

But the best stuff is what I learn from everybody here. Been burning up trees to heat my house for thirty years this past November. I have learned more about how to do it in the last year in this Forum than I did torching the last 150 cords of wood. Some of it from first year wood burners. Go figure.

Thank you.

After what happend to me at https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/5525/
I must admit I was taken back and offended at first.

I see that most people are very nice and that Dylan was the exception - not the rule.

I agree that there is no place for insults here. (even though I responded kinda rudely myself)
I'm glad he edited his original comments

Anyway, thanks for the greeting.

Holy Crap another PE owner With Roo, Wil, Hog, there plain ain't enough server space to accomodate another.

Welcome aboard
Remember the toes you step on today may be connected to the a** you may have to kiss tomorrow

Still making Osburn's? Uhhh yup. I'm trying to cause a company comeback. SBI now owns them.

I'm quite happy with the stove. You can't beat the bay window for the fireview and radiant heat output.

Welcome aboard Newbies! From one Newbie to another. Yeah, my post count is going up... just a reminder of my addiction to this place. I think I'm going to beat HW to the "master of fire" status. Since he installed his stove one day before me, I've got to make up for it somehow, lol.

Interesting postings. I'm also a newbie and still trying to figure how to ask and respond to questions. Heck, I'm still trying to figure out all the abbreviations, symbols and other stuff I see on the site. I've learned quite a lot and appreciate the regulars answering things I'm sure have been dealt with before, and also glad there are others, who want to get involved in this forum. So, I'll try to generate a little heat by saying how Oregon State University whupped ol Missouri (final score 39-38). Probably doesn't relate to all this wood stuff, unless you take into account that the OSU mascot is a beaver!

Welcome aboard PacificGuyInCNY , brianosaur , I know that frozen tundra you call the snow belt!
PacificGuy, my stepson lived in a mobile home for a while off route 11 in Central Square, and his girlfriend lived in Pulaski, near the salmon river, I remember being up there during one of those lake effect storms. and the snow nearly being to the roof of the mobile home! Best fishing in NY the salmon river and Pulaski! Another old timer named Hackbarth lived on the Robbers Roost farm in Pulaski, the memories of snowmobiling comes to mind, as an old army buddy we traveled from Devens Mass, to the Roost on weekends, Nice territory, the restaurant by the lake- Oneida I think it is, Down on the end there by the cove. is a nice place to eat!
