I'm down to my last row of wood. That's all,....just can't believe I burnt all that this year! Hope it lasts Been cutting up a BUNCH of ash tops from a logging job at my neighbors for next few years I HOPE!! I live to burn BUT Rant over.

We're running low on softwood. Only one row of fir left, so we are burning mostly hardwood. Actually that is a joy. I will be buying wood soon it looks like.

Im getting low to. Just by looking at my stacks im guessing I have about 1.5-2 cords left (I should measure). This wood is below 20% Larch with a bit of Lodgepole Pine. Its hurting going to far into the Larch I have set aside as its my good wood which I was saving for next winter and its harder to find in the bush. Theres to much snow on the ground to go anywhere to get dead standing pine. The snow piles from shoveling the driveway are as high as my mini van and we just got another foot today. I was out snow shoeing with the dog the other day and have my eye on some wood close to the house but it will be 2 months if not longer before I can get to it!

I am burning a stack of ash I hadn't intended on, only because I can get to it. Burning the wood I had intended on would involve a lot of work. Moving 3-4' of snow is tough with an atv and an old pos snowblower.

3 cords already and wicked cold again next week. Getting really close to diving into next season's stash. Oh and one of my faithful J-reds gave up the ghost recently.
Now I have an excuse to go buy a new saw

I'm down the 18 month old Oak that I have to cut to length, and even worse, covered in 1+foot of snow with HF $2.99 Tarps.....cut'em, and set'em by the stove to help dry out.....it's not the best, but they do burn.....can't wait to sweep and see just how bad it is

I've already searched the storage shed for old scraps that can be burned. Down to my last 1/4 cord and after last weeks ice storm and electrical loss, we have been running the heat pump. Will save this wood in case we lose power again.

I do have a cord of Ash ready to roll, but I split and stacked it for my buddy who helped me cut some logs.....he has very little storage, so I'm keeping it here till he needs it.

1 cord left! That will be 7 for the year. I've never burned more than 5 in a year. I only need to use my 2 stoves if it goes below 20 degrees, otherwise I just use one. After probably 6 weeks of nighttime temps below 20 degrees, and most in single digits, I've chewed up a lot of wood. I'll be cutting up a lot this Spring!

This has been one of the coldest and snowiest winters I can remember in our area. I usually burn between 4 and 5 cords, but this year Im well into 6 already with about 1 seasoned cord left. Last week I went out to TS and picked up some bio bricks/blocks just to mix in with the wood every once and a while. This was my first experience using them and they work great and put good heat out. I advise anyone running low to do the same and you wont be disappointed.

I'm a little lower than I wanted to be by this time but being the first year burning an EPA stove, I'm still ahead of what last season was with my old All Nighter - AND it has been crazy cold! Makes me wonder what my wood consumption will be like during a typical winter and when I'm no longer looking for an excuse to have a fire going (burned a bit more than I probably needed to during fall - newness factor of the stove was too much to resist).

I'm going to burn pellets in a Pelleteer as winter temps rebound to overnight lows of 35 deg. Got 35 bags waiting for me in the garden shed all with the hopes of saving my last cord of firewood for next season.

We're getting a break this week in western NC with temperatures up in the 60s a few days and overnight lows only in the 40s. I had some windows open yesterday afternoon to warm the place up a bit! It will be nice to only burn one fire at night and maybe a few uglies in the morning to take the chill off. I'm in good shape with my wood supply, but it still hurts to watch it disappear as fast as it has this winter. I've already been cutting, splitting, and stacking to fill my storage spots back up. I even ordered a new Fiskars X27 splitting axe the other day that I'm eager to try out when it gets here soon.

just moved into new (old farm house) have about 1/2 cord left of good dry oak but have a ton of large pine down from previous years storms here in Mass. Do you guys burn white pine?? I tried to buy wood and most say its buried in 30" of snow and have no interest in even digging it out!! grrrrrrrr found one guy that has "some what seasoned" wood pickup only

The pine is fine to burn if it's dry. Lots of people here at the forum specifically save up their pine for shoulder season where they like quick heat, but not too long of a burn. If you haven't burned much pine you need to start slow and don't load your stove with too many small splits or you'll be surprised at how hot it gets compared to a comparable load of oak.

Nick you will love the fiskars 27, I have the bigger model 29 I think but I use the 27 as my go to axe.

Kevin, the X 27 is the big one (36" handle). I considered getting the shorter handle, but after reading some of the reviews it seemed like most people recommended the big model for splitting. I'm eager to give it a work out when it gets here soon!

Love my fiskars 27 but they don't go through large rounds well or big knots so it's def not my go to axe. They're great for small to mid size rounds and all sizes of soft woods. The wedges and sledge can do whatever I ask of them.

By the end of February, I will have burned as much as I burned all of last year and more than the year before with at least the full month of March to go. Also, guessing I have burned twice as much propane 100 gallons this year so far vs. 50 gallons all of last year. On some of the coldest/windest days it takes alot of heat keeping this house warm ! But the good news is I will still have about a 3-4 year supply of wood left
