Mrs Blue: "Isn't it kind of chilly in here? The thermo only says 65..."

I ran it through Google Translate, which provided, "You have a cord of BL in sight of the door. Fire that bad boy up."

One 6" split of BL later, stovetop is at 600, thermo says 69, and Mrs. Blue is napping on the couch.

I wish I could find some of that stuff. It's around here, but not right here.

She's right, 65 is insane.

What does 65 feel like? >>

Actually, there was a full load of hickory burning at the time, but it seems I may not have tracked my drying well enough, as stovetop stubbornly would not get above 450.

to funny, mine complained it was "only" 69 the other night and we had an argument about starting up the wood furnace

Just looked and its 64.5 in here.
Just loaded it up. Debating whether to go split come more of the big maple I had to have taken down.
Not very motivated today.

Motivated to stay inside myself. The sleet has been coming down like a snow storm for two hours.

At 69 I would freeze, at 72 my wife complains its cold. She doesn't like waking to a 69-70 degree house, but when it's in the teens and its been 9.5 hours since loading i'm not complaining. I keep things around 72-73, but as soon as I leave, she keeps it in the mid 70's. Her point is we don't burn wood to freeze. When I hear people at work setting their thermostats at 62 I cringe.

Upstairs is at 70, the stove/family room downstairs is probably at least 15 higher, and the snow is at 5 inches and piling up fast. I'll take the snow over the sleet that BrotherBart is getting though. Hubby is fussing about the snow but is happy about how well the old Lopi is doing to keep the house comfy.

Hmmm, no snow here yet.

On radar it looks like it should arrive any minute Hog.

Looks like you may dodge it, Hogz... 4-5" down here.

yeah, we have the sleet-snow mix here in southern maryland.....I had to fire up the little jotul last night as the gasket on the summit failed on me. i just let it go out as it was hard to control. i had to go and get a new tube of cement....the one i had was not very cooperative coming out of the tube. i got the gasket back on and trying to cure and set. when I have the summit going downstairs in the basement/family room by itself, it stays 70-75 most of the time upstairs with temps probably reaching 82 or so downstairs. the wife just closed the door after letting some of the heat out.....lol.....she was running around decorating for the holiday and got too warm.

Started here about an hour ago. Don't think much is called for.

Not much was called for here either, but now there's 6" of *%$! in the driveway.

we got 5 or so inches yesterday. it switched to lake effect this morning and has been heavy on and off all day. now they are shifting Tuesday's storm till later at night. that would make me happy.

Came in a bit ago from walking the dog / seeing how bad the road is. Mrs. Bow handed me some homemade wedding soup, told me school was cancelled tomorrow, and went downstairs to check the stove.
I've found my sweet spot :)

I don't recall school ever being canceled the night before when i was a kid here in Michigan of course we have a few more plow/salt trucks up here than you do I'm sure.

me either but it happens often here. after school activities, forget about it. if it's snowing they cancel. I don't get it.

For us to get a snow day the recipe was for the heavy snow not to stary until after 2am that way the plows didn't have a chance to get at it before the transportation superintendent had to make his decision around 6. If the snow started earlier the plows would be out all night and have it cleared even if it was still snowing in the morning.

I do remember a particular snow day when I was an RA at Northern Michigan University... we got about 36 inches overnight. I got the phone call at about 5 am waking me up so I could post signs in the halls announcing the snow day to all my residents. By 10 AM thanks to my 4X4 truck I had at the time and a few hundred pounds of sand i was on the ski slopes :)
