If I buy an outdoor wood boiler and it is to large for my house is there any adverse effects? Burns wood to quick? Doesnt burn wood offten enough?

Even oil & gas boilers should be sized properly. Too large a boiler & it will short cycle which = efficiency loss. The Only exception to what nofossil said I think would be if you had a lot of storage. You would get up to temp faster but you should calculate all of that out & get what you need. I don't see any benefit to oversizing

If you buy a boiler that is too large you will end up wanting additional storage so that you can increase the time between fires. Assuming lots of insulation...

I'm thinking 5000 gallons of well insulted pressurized storage, and in January I'll only burn once a week. Is sarcasm allowed on this site?

That much storage (without heat loss) down here in VA and I could burn 5 fires all winter! Ha! Love it!

Just kidding, of course ;-)
