What is going on with Profession NFL Football this year?

You have coaches setting up hit lists on the important players.
You have people on the sidelines getting involved with the game.
You have fans throwing food at an injured players.
The list goes on and on.
I think the NFL officials need to step in and clean house before football continues it descent into the gutter.

A possible solution would be team based suspension, if proof is obtained of a coach setting up hit lists, suspend the whole team for X amount of games. The lost revenue and the anger of the fans would put an end to that type of behavior in a hurry.

For people on the sideline intentionally interfering in the game. I think such a person should never be allowed on the sidelines again. Before this year this was unheard of, this year this has happened multiple times. once is one too many times in my opinion.

For the fans that threw food at an injured player, tapes should be obtained and they should be barred for life from the stadium.

Don't forget about the players.

Players get fined all the time. $10G? Drop in the bucket...

Don't forget about the players.

The actions of the few are starting to make the NFL as a whole look bad, the bigger problem is now the bad apples are starting to outweigh the good apples.
Professional, used to mean more then just an athletic player who could play the game better then most.
That being a Pro Athlete meant you were held to a higher standard, that you were a role model, a hero.
Now, is more of who has a record and who doesn't.

definitely a drop in the bucket but I'm talking more about off the field.

i already fixed it at my house. All sports channels are blocked. You can not watch any sports on my tv. Well, i do watch the olympics some.

What? even ice hockey? What's this world coming to?

Players being brought up on murder charges (Hernandez from the Pats), the idiot from Seattle trash talking after Sundays game, dog fighting, etc...
Becoming more like reality TV than professional sports. Pretty sure Vegas controls the outcomes of the games anyway by controlling the refs...

My wife and I were talking about this last night . . . doesn't seem quite right that a person can get paid a ton of money and is adored by thousands and cheered ever week because they can throw or catch a ball really well . . . but the couple in the stands -- a paramedic and nurse say -- who have the skills to save lives and yet are chewed out by family members because they arrived at the scene too slowly or didn't answer their father's buzzer quick enough get paid a fraction of that money . . . and that's just one example . . .

I think of how it doesn't quite seem fair that we pay some guy an insane amount of money and justify it because he is always getting pummeled in the games and yet we pay our police and soldiers chump change considering they face a very real danger of someone attempting to kill them.

I think of how we give these guys a quarter million dollars when they're in their 20s and idolize them for their skill, but we forget how that teacher in 1st grade helped us master addition and subtraction.

I sometimes think we pay folks wrong. In an ideal world, those who have the potential to make the most direct impact on a person's life should be paid accordingly . . . but then again, this has never been, and will never be, the way the world works.

And yeah, I'm part of the problem since I tune in every Sunday in the Fall to watch "the game" . . . even with all of its flaws. Still, the NFL players will never be any hero of mine no matter how skilled they may be . . . my heroes are the teachers who care about their student's accomplishments, the electrical line workers who are out in the worse weather to restore power when I am hunkered down in my home, the mechanic who works past 5 p.m. since he knows his customer needs that car for work the next day, the nurse who gets little to no thanks but gives life saving, compassionate care to a family friend . . . and hundreds of other folks who truly make a difference in my life.

Pats fan . . . but after watching one home game when they were way behind and had nearly no chance of coming back for the win . . . until the Refs gave them two back to back, questionable rulings in their favor . . . which caused them to win the game and go to the play-offs I must admit . . . you may be right about Vegas. Honestly, that one game really disappointed me since it seemed as though the Refs were looking for anything and anyway to put the Pats in the Playoffs . . . which I wanted . . . but not if it meant using favoritism to get there.

Before the feds shut down my favorite online betting site I would routinely see crazy little calls and penalties that didn't necessarily change the outcome of the game but certainly changed the final score enough to hit or miss a point spread.

Whilee the Pats are certainly my team, despite their cheating scandal a few years back, they had no business being in the play offs this year. Several series of penalties and crazy calls helped them pull off a few key wins that got them there.

I'm not wearing the aluminum foil hat yet, but with the money in the NFL, the advertising, vegas, etc... I think it would be naive to think it's still just a good old fair play game. Anywhere there's that much money there's corruption.

Of course everyone knows big money and politics has nothing to do with where the olympics are played and we also know there is no drug use and cheating involved with the athletes as well.

If one wants to become a teacher or an emt, the path is pretty clear and chances of success are good. Becoming a pro athlete is a very long shot. Becoming a "star" that folks talk about making millions of dollars is a longer shot still. I think the average career lasts 4 years and they have to live with the injuries and find something else to do when they're done playing. And of course, athletes generate revenue in unimaginable numbers. Nate Jackson, a pro football player for six years (who the hell is Nate Jackson? My point exactly) recently wrote a book
called Slow Getting Up: A Story of NFL Survival from the Bottom of the Pile that has some good insight on this subject.

We have cut cable for the last 2 years. I thought I would miss the NFL......I don't! These players making millions only to cry they need more!
I still remember T.O. saying he could not feed his family on the multi million salary! WTHeck!

Now this year Desean Jackson crying.......I will check some stats in the paper once in awhile but really don't even read about them
much either. Streaming from the Roku 2HD with Netflix and Plex as well as many other options has been great!

I agree with not paying the right people, like our military or others mentioned actually putting their lives on the line! Stop going to games and
their salaries thru cable! Vote with your wallets!
