I've seen this around on CL sometimes, usually fairly cheap. Are they worth picking up for heating a workshop type space?

Yes they are worth it.. Very common here in camps etc.

It all depends. Some have been good and we had one once. Biggest problem was creosote. We also wore out the door handle rather quickly and had to replace it. I stated the biggest problem was creosote but another big problem is you will put lots of wood through that to get a little heat. Personally, I would never buy another one. But if you want it, you should be able to buy that for $50.

I should add that ours here are Newmac's. They look a little different that what you posted. They throw alot of heat in my experience. They are available in EPA and non EPA.
