Hi,

We are currently renovating the woodshop behind our garage into an office/guestroom, hang out space separate from the house , and we would like to put a small wood burning stove in there. We will also have a baseboard or split mini, so it will primarily be for ambiance, enjoyment.

Wondering what are the best options out there that won't totally overpower the space when it's burning. would like something with some type of glass door to see fire burning. Thanks very much in advance for any advice.

It should be something pretty small, especially if the room is already being kept warm by primary heat. If you have gas at the house, maybe also consider a gas stove. Some new units have a very nice looking fire. The advantage is that the fire can be turned right down if it is gas. That's not so easy with wood.

For a wood stove, I'm going to assume that the fire view is important so that eliminates some tiny stoves. A little Morso 1410, Jotul F100, Hampton H200 may work or perhaps a Salamander Hobbit?

And also check with the local inspecting authority and your insurance company to verify it is approved for NY installation. Otherwise, the first 3 stoves mentioned are ok for NY.
