what to clean glass with

OK...don't shoot me but I tried to search this out but got cross eyed trying to read the results. What can I use to clean the glass on my Big-E? And where can I get some?
I know about using newspaper, I want a spray cleaner to use when I shut the stove down to clean it. My Dad has some spray but I don't know where he got it and he is not with us anymore (RIP Dad). TIA

I was told and have read many times on here.......WAIT until the stove cools down. Wet a paper towel. Wipe the entire area of the glass, be careful of the insulated gasket around the edge of the glass. Then wipe the glass clean with a paper towel. That's what I do and it works great.

I use a sponge and a single sheet of paper towel.

The sponge is one of those yellow ones with the green scrubby pad on one side.

I use it damp with enough water to make the glass wet. The scrubby really takes all the tar gook off the glass.

Once it is all loose I use the paper towel to dry off the glass and wipe up the gook.

Rinse out the sponge and you are ready for next time.

"White Off" from Northline Express ( northlineexpress.com ) works great. They also have another stove glass cleaner I want to try.

Like cleaning and waxing the glass. Glass should not be hot when used. Apply with a paper towel, Allow residue to dry, wipe with paper towel.

Yep, the macman now uses the Magic Eraser...works GREAT!

If you want to really save some $ though, an old wood burners trick is to use wood ash. Vacuum the door & glass first with the brush attachment to get most of the buildup, then take a wet paper towel, dip it in some of the stove ash, and lightly scrub the glass.....should clean it right up.

I use a super fine #0000 steel wool if it gets really bad. DO NOT USE any other grade of steel wool as it will scratch the glass. I have been doing this for 3 years with no problems. Otherwise I use a damp papertowel.

I use ceramic cooktop cleaner on the glass. As others have mentioned,
be sure the glass is cool though.

a razor blade scraper works nice to get the majority of the black off then i use either Windex or 409 and a paper towel.
Get some cheap latex gloves too...

On our Europa a dry paper towel once every few days, right on the hot glass while it's burning. (use a stove glove kiddies). Once a month when I shut it down to empty the ashes, I do the windex/paper towel trick.

I alternate between Windex and Rutland Glass Cleaner. I use a drop of the Rutland and it cleans super easy.

am i the only one that likes their glass dirty? I clean my glass off once a month at best. It's just too damn bright at night. with the glass 'caked' up, it makes the room tolerable to watch tv in and not get shadows dancing on the screen.

It cleans the glass very easily but the big thing is that it conditions the glass (kinda like waxing), The conditioning keeps the glass clean for longer periods of burn time. Any way been using this for years and it works great. You can find it @ HD cost about $9.00. Lasts about 2-3 seasons.

wow, just tried that on my downstairs Jotul woodstove's glass... it was extremely effective. and the dirt came out of the eraser easily by repeatedly squeezing the sponge under running water (so it's reusable). just wiped it clean with a paper towel afterwards and voila, spotless. nice!

I'll have to try that Magic eraser, but this is second year on same bottle of this stuff, glass looks like new, smells a bit like sulfur, but no worse then wifes Farts, LOL... $10/Bottle over 2 years, prob keep using it, bought at any Home Hardware or probably Ace hardware.
