Hi guys, just got thru my second year of burning with my jotul oslo. Once again the chimney looks great so I'm happy with that. As I clean the stove for the summer is there anything I should be looking for in the stove? Something that might need repairing after two years? Gaskets? Firebricks? Thanks for any help.

Brother Oslo owner. Two years most things should be in decent shape. I'm 15 years of part-time heating and all I've done is a few rear fire bricks (after hair line cracks). I change the burn plate insulation blanket ever three years or so. A few side door gaskets. I'm gentle on the stove, rarely run it over 550. If your not running it hard it has a lot of years of service, with minimum issues.

7 or so years of burning and other than cleaning . . . nothing has been changed out. Just check your gaskets with the dollar bill test and replace those if needed.

With proper care and operation the stove should need little more than an annual cleaning and inspection. The door gasket will last 3-7 yrs. depending on use. The side door gasket will likely be the first to need replacing. Proper operation means not using the ashpan door for startup air and keeping the stove below overfire temps.

I usually have to check for dead birds that get down chimney and cant get back out.lol,
