what type of surge protector

I bought the wrong kind I guess it popped last night for the umptheen time I think its a gfci and surge protector in 1 so just wondering if there are any certain types of surge protectors you guys use.

Good surge protectors are made by companies such as Tripp Lite. I use an ISOBAR on mine. http://www.tripplite.com/en/products/surge-protectors.cfm

Anything you find in a department store etc is crap. Cheap Chinese junk imported for pennies and sold for top dollar. Cheap MOV's the whole works.

it was recommended here by a lot of people. Get one that has at least a 1200 Joule rating. The 300-600 Joule rated devices are worthless.

Just get a ups. It has surge on it and other benefits like running without power for about an hour and cleaning street power.

GFCI ground fault circuit interrupters or more commonly called GFI ground fault interrupters should not be used on appliances with motors such as washing machines and pellet stoves! The high startup spike current can cause the GFI to pop! That is your problem!

Only use a surge protector!

I use an APC brand surge protector. It seems like a fairly solid built one although my Tripplite surge protectors on my computer and home theater are built like they have lead weights in them.

Yes, and that is the most ridiculous PITA code I have seen! My neighbor had her basement remodeled per code and now every time she uses the washer it does not work! Absurd!

Had it happen especially with older washers. I have left a single receptacle and plate behind and told the customer when it was inspected and i left the GFI was installed. I am not responsible if someone happens to change it

The walls are white/cream colored. I'm sure that black is better, but I have to go with what the decorator tells me...
