I bought the wrong kind I guess it popped last night for the umptheen time I think its a gfci and surge protector in 1 so just wondering if there are any certain types of surge protectors you guys use.

it was recommended here by a lot of people. Get one that has at least a 1200 Joule rating. The 300-600 Joule rated devices are worthless.

Actually with the last code update, laundry rooms have to be GFCI protected.GFCI ground fault circuit interrupters or more commonly called GFI ground fault interrupters should not be used on appliances with motors such as washing machines and pellet stoves! The high startup spike current can cause the GFI to pop! That is your problem!
Only use a surge protector!
