When to clean and sweep out the chimney

So I've installed a Napolean 1402 fireplace insert. I was only able to do a partial liner insert, 6 -7 ft up because of the flue dims. The question is how offen should I be sweeping the cresole out from the chimney. The wood I have is 8-9 months seasoned. We've used the stove for 1-1/2 weeks but not everyday. But as the colder weather starts to move in my stay-at-home-wife, will be using this everyday all day. I'm thinking of sweeping out the chimney once a month. Is this frequencey to much (which I assume is not a bad thing) or could I go every 2 months?

Start with the once a month.... Maybe even every 2 weeks. Once you know if you are producing creosote and at what rate then you can decide how often in needs cleaned. too often as you said never causes a problem.

Every 2 weeks is a bit much. There is no way this guy is going to pull an insert out of a fireplace every 2 weeks. Everyday would be perfect but not exactly feasible.
I do mine once a year.
Go up on the roof after you've been burning for month and look at the chimmney.
Then base it on that.

Yup. Once a year should be enough when you're using dry wood and have the hang of it. Checking after a month is good for your peace of mind and learning curve.

Lets look to the wood stove info on the front page of this very site...... I'm sure he says to check it every 2 weeks for the first bit of time to be sure your not filling it quick.
