Where can I find a Breckwell Big E CAST Burnpot?

Do others find that the burnpot warps, cracks after 3 years of use? Not sure if this is a common problem but it is one that I am experiencing. I prefer the cast burnpot over the newer stainless steel burnpot because the cast will last longer for me. Anyone have a clue to why I am going through burnpots every 3 years, burnpots are not cheap! Thanks

Thanks Pete. I would look for an air leak in the door or ashpan first. Second make sure the air chambers behind the firewall are clear.

History - I replace the door and ash pan gasket every other year whether it needs it or not and do check for air leaks on a regular basis, I clean the exhaust motor blades evey other month, I use the leaf blower trick, have an end cap on exhaust pipe for cleaning, remove the 2 plates and clean behind the firewall every other week. I do believe in having a clean stove as stated on this forum. Shut down the stove and clean about every 5 days depending on what pellet I am burning. Also when cleaning I remove the burnpot, scrape, wire brush and make sure holes are clear. At a loss why burnpots are warping so quickly...Thanks for the help!

What heat range level do you mainly run it on?

Hi Jay, mainly #2 setting. When temps drop below 15 degrees I'll bump it up to #3 setting. Only time I use the #4 or #5 setting is after I shut the stove down for cleaning to warm up the area faster and no more than an hour on the higher setting. I do run the stove 24/7, no thermostat. Stoves been great, minimal issues it's just the burnpots are not lasting, getting a little more than 2 years per burnpot. Is this something common with Big E?

Could be you need to clean more often. As the carbon builds it could creating a hot spot which might be the cause of the warping? I would try cleaning every other day. Or at least scrap the pot daily to help keep it from building up in the burnpot.

The cleaner you keep the pot the better.

We have had to replace ours too, and to me it seems that the stainless one the ash crude sticks to a lot worse now.

Yes agree Jay, I do scrap the burnpot at least twice a day while the stove is running, I should have been more specific. Give it a good scraping wire brushing etc when the stove is shut down for cleaning. Thanks

I have run a Big E since 2008. Finishing up a few tons of crappy NEWP's. Run 24/7 and shut down to clean on Friday or Saturday. Never open the door other than that. Only thing that wears out is the burnpot extension.Never seen the warping of burnpot, still the original.

Breckwell sight doesn't list a cast iron burn pot any more but only a SS.......

The cast pots were suposedly released to ofset a shortage of the SS pots. 2008 was a rush year on stoves and parts. Many couldn't keep up with demand. Could be they don't make them anymore.
