My blower fan won’t start and I want to test the snap disc (temperature sensor). I’ve pulled out the gas insert from the fireplace but I can’t see the snap disc anywhere. I confirmed the blower motor still works. What panel do I need to remove to access the snap disc?

Update: I have the newer Proflame 2 IFC Control Module Board that no longer uses a snap disc. The IFC module controls the blower by time (5 or 6 minutes after the gas is lit, the temperature is warm, so then the blower can turn on if activated on the remote control). So good news I don't need to test or swap out the snap disc, bad news is that I probably need to replace the IFC module so that I can get my fan to work again.

Solved - I found the part # of my IFC control board on the back of the board, you just need to remove the top and bottom screws to pull the black control box off of the firebox. I ordered a matching board on Ebay for $270 USD. I swapped in the new board and sync'ed the remote, now my fan works again. This was a DIY project on my gas insert that was professionally installed in 2019. Total cost was my labor and $270 for the control board and $45 for the updated Proflame battery holder that I ordered on Amazon.

The original symptoms were that the fan was not working and the 4 AA batteries in the battery holder were draining very quickly.

I used Google Gemini LLM to help me with troubleshooting. The AI worked pretty well, it just led me down a rabbit hole with the snap disc. It was helpful to use the LLM to learn that DFC (SIT brand), IFC (industry term) and "Burner Control Module" (functional name) all mean the same thing, as I was getting confused reading the documentation that I was finding online and on YouTube. In hindsight, I should have told the LLM my IFC board part number right away - then it would have known that there is no snap disc in my set up. Posting this here so it hopefully helps the next person.

Just curious did you check the fuse on the sit 2 board?

I did, the fuse was still good.

Testing the fuse was one of the troubleshooting steps that I was guided through using my multimeter. The other steps included spinning the fan blades to make sure they were not stuck and attaching a 120v pigtail to the fan to verify it still runs independent of the control board.

Any ideas what can I do with the old board? I could keep the good fuse from it, maybe there are other parts that can be reused? Does anyone refurbish these boards?
